How to use the Spring Finder
- Select the spring Type — Oil Tempered for standard duty, Galvanized for corrosion-resistance.
- Choose your Inside Diameter (the measurement of the hollow core).
- Pick the Wire Size (Measure with a caliper for best results).
- Set the Overall Length from end-to-end. This measurement should be the relaxed length, not wound.
The Finder will instantly narrow thousands of combinations down to the single spring that matches your door.

Torsion Springs
Order Torsion Springs by Noon (cdt) and your 1-3/4", 2" or 2-5/8" spring(s) will ship the exact same day.

With our easy-to-use torsion spring selection tool below, you can find the spring you need quickly and/or accurately upgrade to a spring with more cycles.
For each individual spring, we list the Inch Pounds Per Turn (IPPT) and # of turns to help you ensure that you have the correct direct replacement torsion spring. This information also will help you or determine which spring(s) will allow you to upgrade to additional cycles and more years of safe, dependable and well-balanced operation.
Things to Know about Garage Door Torsion Springs:
- Torsion springs must be measured while unwound or in a relaxed state or your dimensions will be incorrect.
- To match your previous size exactly, you will need to measure the wire size, the inside diameter, and the length.
- The length doesn't have to be completely precise (anything within a half inch will be fine)
- The wire size and inside diameter are critical, this is where most mistakes are made
- The number of turns is based on the height of the door and the size cable drums that you have (the rule for 7' doors is 7.5 turns and 8' doors is 8.5 turns and adjust from there)
- The direction of the wind on the spring is opposite the side that it goes on (ex: the left wound spring is installed on the right hand side of the door, as your standing inside your garage looking out)

- *1-3/4", 2" and many 2-5/8" oil-tempered and galvanized wire i.d's typically ship the same day if ordered by noon cdt. Please allow 48-72 hours processing time for other sizes and types.
